Instrumental Music in Worship Under the NT Part 4 The Conclusion
If we are to listen to the words of Jesus ("God is a spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." -- John 4:24), we must be concerned with authority as to the actions which we engage in during our worship.
Our only rule of faith and action must be God's holy word. In looking into God's holy word, we must respect the law of silence (When God says to do something, that automatically eliminates everything else). The New Testament commands us to sing (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16), nothing more.
There is no mention of instrumental music, or playing on instruments of music. God is silent on the subject of instrumental music in worship under the New Testament.
When God says sing, that automatically eliminates everything else (i.e., playing instruments of music).
The historians unanimously agree that instrumental music was a later addition to the worship of the church. It was not used by the early church under the direction of the apostles of Jesus Christ and the other inspired men of the first century.
Numerous scholars (some of the best the world has ever known) agree that instrumental music is against the will of God and sinful.
In view of all that we have seen, can you honestly say that instrumental music in worship under the New Testament is correct? Indeed, the facts show that instrumental music in worship under the New Testament is a sin.
Won't you come with us back to the practice of the church in the New Testament, and put aside the instruments of music in worship?
Let us restore the church of the first century in our century! We can do that only by following the New Testament, and what is says alone. Amen.
