Remarks on Righteousness
Old Testament
Psalm 4:3,4 But know that the LORD has set apart him who is godly for Himself: the LORD will hear when I call Him. Stand in awe,and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. The godly, those who have an attitude of humility and meekness before the Lord, willing to allow their lives to be guided by His will, these God has set apart for Himself. They are His people. They are His sheep. When they kneel in prayer, when they pour out their hearts to God in supplication, when they with a humble and contrite heart approach the Creator of the universe, He will hear. Unlike the idols of the nations that surrounded Israel which we made of stone and precious metals which could not hear, the God of heaven listens and responds. Stop and think about that. The Creator of all that is will listen to you if you are godly. That is awesome! So cease from your sin and serve Him. As you lay upon your bed in the still of the night, think about who you are, think about what you are, think about your relationship with God. Does God know you? Does God answer you? Think about it. "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified." [Acts 20:32]
