But He answered and said, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God." -- Matthew 4:4
Jesus when He was tempted by the Devil responded with the words "It is written."
This was a common statement for the written word of God revealed by the prophets.
The power Jesus had to conquer the Devil is the same power which we have:
the written word of God, the Holy Bible. The question is, will we use it?
Man does not survive only because of what he eats, it is because of the word of God.
It was the word of God which brought this world into existence. It is the word of God that gave
life to man. It is the word of God which gives him life, breath and all things.
Just because one is hungry, even after forty days, is no reason to listen to the Devil. Listening
to the Devil is not an option, even when we are craving what the Devil is offering, even if we
think it can save our life.
